I left my heart in San Francisco. This city is amazing, and I wish I had the chance to adventure in it even longer. I've always believed that New York City is the best place to be, yet this one comes pretty close.
Of course, I had to stop at Lombard Street, the crookidest road in the country. It's something I've always wanted to see, and we had the chance to walk down it. The road was steep for sure, and it was interesting to watch the cars try to turn down it.
Instead of doing the "typical" touristy things, we decided to check out some hidden gems. On 16th street, we visited these mosaic steps which were decorated in intricate colors and designs. There were names and quotes carved into the steps as well.
Just around the corner were Seward Street Slides. These were two concrete slides that you can slide down on a piece of cardboard. It was so hidden in the neighborhood that it was hard to even see. Feeling like little kids again, Nicole and I went down at least three times, giggling at the way our hats flew off, my butt being too big to stay on the cardboard and the whole essence of it all.
We made sure to check out Pier 39, the sea lions and all the little nicnak shops. Then, we met up with my uncle and cousin from the Italian side of my family. For the first time in decades, I was able to reunite both the Italian and Greek side of my family. Naturally, we ate some delicious Mexican food at Mango, a cute restaurant within the pier.
We spent the rest of the day traveling throughout the city, including China Town. To finish the festivities, we had to do the tradition of going over the Golden Gate Bridge.
The bridge is massive, and today, just happened to be covered in fog. Nonetheless, it was a remarkable site to see. The clouds hung overhead and mountains were visible not too far in the distance, making the scene hard to believe. After a few minutes of sightseeing, we were off again, leaving the magical city behind us.
